UPDATE: US slaps sanctions on Evrofinance Mosnarbank for ties with PDVSA
(Adds comments by bank in last two paragraphs)
WASHINGTON/MOSCOW, Mar 11 (PRIME) -- The U.S. has added Russian bank Evrofinance Mosnarbank to a sanctions list for its connection with Venezuelan state oil and gas company PDVSA, the U.S. Department of the Treasury said on Monday.
The U.S. sanctioned PDVSA in late January, having blocked the company’s assets in its jurisdiction for U.S. $7 billion, amid a political crisis in the country.
Evrofinance Mosnarbank said it continues stable operations and will fully fulfill its obligations to its clients and partners.
“The bank has a high quality of assets, a high level of liquidity and capital adequacy, and staking on stable and reliable financial instruments, together with a conservative risk assessment policy, allows the bank to overcome negative trends, both internal and external,” the bank said.
